The Nigerian Youth Helpdesk Terms of Use

Welcome to Youth Helpdesk (the "Site"), accessible at http://nigerianyouthhelpdesk.com and https://portal.youthhelpdesk.ng. Youth Helpdesk is an initiative powered by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development to provide a platform for young Nigerians to report incidents of harassment by police or security agencies, among other services.

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Youth Helpdesk, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, all applicable laws, and any additional guidelines, terms, or rules posted in connection with specific features of the Site.

Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Site. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must consent to these Terms on your behalf. By accessing the Site, you affirm that you have the authority and capacity to comply with these Terms.

2. Purpose of the Platform
The primary purpose of Youth Helpdesk is to offer a secure and confidential platform where youths in Nigeria can report any instances of harassment, abuse, or misconduct by police officers or other security personnel. In addition, the platform offers resources, support, and guidance on how to handle such incidents.

We are committed to ensuring that the voices of youths are heard, and we will work closely with relevant authorities to address any complaints lodged through this platform.

3. Account Creation and Responsibilities
3.1. Account Creation
In order to use certain features of Youth Helpdesk, you are required to create an account and provide accurate, up-to-date information about yourself. You warrant that all the information you provide is truthful and complete. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your username and password.

3.2. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. Youth Helpdesk will not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from your failure to safeguard your account information.

3.3. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you breach these Terms, provide false information, or misuse the platform. If your account is terminated, you may lose access to the services and resources provided by the Site.

4. Reporting Incidents and Content Guidelines
4.1. Reporting Harassment
Youth Helpdesk allows users to report incidents of police or security agency harassment confidentially. Reports submitted via the platform should include accurate details, including the date, time, location, and the nature of the incident. Users may also upload supporting evidence such as photos, videos, or documentation to aid in the investigation.

Reports will be reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate authorities for action. Youth Helpdesk does not guarantee the resolution of any issue but commits to ensuring that all reports are treated with urgency and confidentiality.

4.2. Content Submission
When submitting reports or any other content on Youth Helpdesk, you agree to the following:

Your content must be truthful, lawful, and free from defamatory, harassing, or harmful language.
You must not submit any content that violates the privacy or rights of others, including any material that could cause harm, injury, or discomfort.
You are solely responsible for any content you submit to the platform, and you agree to indemnify Youth Helpdesk for any damages resulting from your content.

5. Use of the Site
5.1. License to Use
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Youth Helpdesk for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not exploit the Site for commercial gain or alter, modify, or reverse-engineer the platform in any way.

5.2. Restrictions on Use

8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Youth Helpdesk, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, and its officers, employees, or agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from:

Any content submitted by you or other users,
Any unauthorized access to your account or personal information.
9. Disclaimer
The services provided by Youth Helpdesk are on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We make no warranties or guarantees regarding the operation, availability, or security of the platform. We do not guarantee that reports filed through the platform will result in the resolution of any complaints.

10. Dispute Resolution
In the event of any dispute arising from your use of the platform, you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Abuja, Nigeria. Any dispute will be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
